Neighborhood Revitalization Program, Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2000
Meg Forney is the volunteer who has done the most to improve our neighborhood and involve people in NRP. Meg is an outstanding example of what a neighborhood volunteer can achieve getting things done through and with other people. Her consistent focus has been on serving the people in this neighborhood by striving to make this a vibrant and special place to live, work and play. Her work on the NRP Action Plan is an excellent example of this. She is the person who got our Action Plan going by putting the final touches on it and getting it approved. Without Meg, we would probably still be in the planning stages of our Action Plan. Meg has been instrumental in inspiring new people in the neighborhood to get involved in both the WCNC and our West Calhoun NRP Steering Committee. Meg is excellent at communicating a vision and bringing projects to fruition. She has been involved with the West Calhoun Neighborhood Council, and the NRP Steering Committee, since the very beginning. Meg is constantly on the lookout for ways to network and increase the visibility of the NRP projects on which we are working. She is the the creative force behind our neighborhood newsletter, the Wavelength, which is our vehicle for communicating our progress on NRP strategies to the entire neighborhood. Meg accomplishes all this with charm, a smile and enthusiasm. We are very fortunate to have Meg living in our neighborhood.
Nominated by Mari Taffe – Vice Chair, for the WCNC NRP Steering Committee, Barb Stevens – Chair, for the West Calhoun Neighborhood Council.
